Spine faded and darkened, fading around edges of boards, some minor handling marks to cloth. Some darkening to endpapers and mild foxing to halftitle. Bookplate to front “Grace Margaret Durnford,” inscribed in pen opposite and dated “Xmas Day 1901.” Typed Author’s letter loose in front addressed to same. Signed by Author at bottom and dated “Jan.7th, 1903, Observatory, Cambridge.” Letter is moderately foxed and darkened. One or two odd minor foxing spots to margins, else inside pages very clean and tight throughout. Plates all guarded and clean. Else a very good clean and tight copy. 568pp + advert catalogue at rear. With 24 colour full-page plates and many B&W woodcut illustrations in text. A comprehensive beginners guide to astronomy.
