Blue cloth with beveled board edges, decorative gilt lettering to spine and front, pictorial black paneled boards with gilt dairy cow to front and milkmaid vignette to spine. Yellow endpapers. In very good condition. Some wear to cover; spine darkened and chipped at ends, corners of boards bumped and chipped, some heavy rubbing to edges. Partial chipped bookseller label to front endpaper “H. W. Mason & Sons, (St. Leonards. ?)” No penned inscriptions. Some light foxing to prelims and rear of frontis plate. Some areas of mild foxing to pages and plates, some handling marks. Else overall a very clean and tight copy. 570pp. + 8pp cat. Illustrated with many B&W woodcut figures in text, and 25 colour plates (all guarded), including a map of the British Isles and folding map ‘Farming in America.’
