In full dark green calf leather bindings, twin red leather spine labels lettered and numbered in gilt, with raised banding and gilt decorations to spines, gilt and blind paneled boards, gilt edge dentelles, marbled endpapers and page edges. In very good condition. Corners slightly bumped, some minor rubbing to edges and corners, some minor darkening to spines and edges. Volume 2 has professional repair to front hinge. Binders labels to endpapers “Henington, Galabin & Comp, Fenchurch Street.” Bookplates to fronts “Kennett,” and inscribed on blank endpaper “Vincent H. Barrington Kennett, wit hthe best wishes of his sincere friend, Harry Douglas Forsyth, on his leaving Eton, 1861.” One or two very minor handling marks else inside pages all very clean, bright and tight throughout. Silk pagemarks intact. Map has slight crease, no tears or marks. Very clean and tight copies. 344 + 367pp. Illustrated with a hand coloured engraved frontispiece in vol.1, 2 B&W plates in vol.2, and a folding B&W engraved map.
