Hardback, approx 9 x 5.5 inches. Full maroon calf fine leather binding, black leather spine label lettered in gilt, with raised banding and gilt decorations to spine, decorative gilt and blind embossed paneled boards. Marbled edges and endpapers. In very good condition. Covers faded on front and spine. Some rubbing to extremities, corners slightly bumped, a couple of small chips to leather on rear. Endpapers clean, neat inscription to front “J.J. Henley, from his friend on leaving Eton, 1838.” Some areas of minor light foxing around and to plates, a couple of small dark stains to inner edges between p2-3. Small repaired tear to corner of folding table at rear. Else inside pages all very clean, bright and tight throughout. 742pp. Illustrated with 7 full-page B&W engraved plates and a folding table at rear.
