Hardback, 8.5 x 5.5 inches. Quarter bound brown polised morocco leather to spine and corners, marbled paper boards. Maroon leather spine label lettered in gilt, with raised and gilt banding and decorations. Plain endpapers. In very good condition. Contemporary leather spine, professionally relaid with original boards. Edges and corners of boards bumped and rubbed, with rubbing to faces of boards. Bookplate to front endpaper “C.H. Innes Hopkins.” Some rubbing and small chips to edge of front endpaper. Plates and adjacent pages with some darkening and moderate foxing. Some minor spots and handling marks to pages else a very clean and tight copy. 456pp. Illustrated with 10 B&W engraved full-page plates. The topics inlcude guns, the detonating system, gun cases, shooting, diseases in dogs, duck guns, wildfowl shooting, launching, and canoe shootings, punts, game laws, and general advice for the health and comfort of a young sportsman. Includes advice on the loading of different guns, e.g. flint lock and percussion cap.
