Gilt decorations to spines. Plain endpapers. In very good conditions. Some rubbing to extremities; faces of boards, edges and corners, spines and spine ends. Chip to top corner of spine on v1. Inside front boards are inscribed “George H Cooke,” with bookplates below “Richard Godf. Bosanquet.” Free sides of endpapers are handwritten with a list of book contents, neatly written on ruled pencil lines with page numbers. Some minor darkening to inside pages with some very minor handling marks, a couple of plates with some minor offsetting to adjacent pages. Some minor light foxing. Else overall inside pages and plates very clean and tight. 496 & 480pp. Illustrated with 32 B&W engraved plates including frontispieces and title page vignettes.
