Beveled boards, yellow endpapers, all page edges gilt. In very good conditions. Some rubbing to edges and corners, bottom leading corners rubbed. Some small chips /rubbing to ends of spines. Some handling marks to boards. Small bump to leading fore-edge of v.4. Neat glue repairs between endpapers in v.1. Some minor glue repairs to loose title page plates. Neat inscription to each front endpaper “For my darling Rosa, June 1893.” Small inscription to top of main title page dated 1889. Some minor handling marks to pages, some light foxing to edges. Some mild foxing to plates. Some rubbing and darkening to edge of p.1 in v.2. Else overall a very clean and tight set. Four volumes. With b&w steel plates and wood engravings, plates with tissue guards. The authors describe the countryside, buildings, towns and cities, and the people of Palestine, Sinai and Egypt as they were in the late 19th century and then part of the Ottoman Empire.
