Hardback, approx 8 x 5 inches. In blue cloth covers with decorative gilt to spine and front. Black endpapers. In very good condition. Corners slightly bumped. Half of front endpaper replaced with surface tear to original half. Some mild foxing to title page and inside pages. Else a clean and tight copy. 489pp. 32pp cat. The volume is a month-by-month chronicle of the "struggles of those who were engaged in agriculture during that trying time" (per his later autobiography). As many veteran Haggard collectors know, it is these non-fiction Haggard titles that are among the most elusive, since the number of copies issued was a small fraction of the size of his fiction printings.
