Hardback, 10 x 6.5 inches. Dark maroon morocco leather, with gilt lettering to spine and extensive gilt decoration, elaborately paneled boards with gilt crests to centres. All edges gilt. Decorative yellow endpapers. In very good condition. Corners a little bumped and rubbing to edges and ends of spine. Some minor rubbing to boards. Hinges cracked between endpapers with darkening from old tape marks, edges of endpapers also darkened. Pages darkened with some staining to edges of title and preliminary pages. Half of folding plate at front is lost but replaced wit h a later copy. Stain to corner and edge of engraved plate at p192. Plate of “Docks” is torn at bound edge with tape repair. Else a clean and tight copy. 844pp + 13pp appendix + index. Illustrated with one engraved plate, “Liverpool in the 17th Century” and 3 folding maps/plans.
