Hardback, approx 12 x 9.5 inches. In red cloth covers with gilt to spine and gilt crest to front. Top edge gilt. Patterned endpapers. In very good condition. Corners slightly bumped with some minor darkening to edges of boards. Spine faded and bumped at ends. Small chips to bottom of spine, small split to rear spine edge nr authors names. Endpapers partly faded on one side. Neat inscription “R. J. Fawcett” to corner of endpaper opposite title page. Some light/mild foxing to title and preliminary pages, some minor spots to inside pages. Else a very clean and tight copy. 292pp. Illustrated with b&w photo plates. The history of an English county borough, in Hampshire, now in Dorset, that began to attract attention as a resort about 1840. Bournemouth was the home of Robert Louis Stevenson from 1884 to 1887 and the book includes some interesting anecdotes.
