Hardback, approx 7.5 x 5 inches. Purple/maroon pebbled cloth with blind-embossed decoration and paneled boards, gilt lettering and fisherman design to spine. Dark endpapers. In good condition; cover a little worn, boards darkened, edges rubbed, corners bumped, some repaired splits to cloth on spine. ends of spine chipped. Minor darkening to endpapers, neat inscription to front “George Towers, Bison Lang,” and embossed “W.H. Smith” stamp to endpaper. Some darkening to title page, some foxing to dedication page and a little to contents, some minor handling/thumb marks to pages, small faint dark spot to middle of page edges from p260 onwards, else a very clean and tight copy inside. 329pp +2pp cat. Illustrated with 2 full-page B&W engraved plates including frontis (”Dum Capimus Capimur.” & “May Flies.”) Also illustrated a main title page vignette and the ‘Wels Catfish’ “Silurus Glanis,” within text at p.171.
