Hardback, 8.5 x 6 inches. In full calf leather binding, embossed paneled boards, raised banding to spine, with gilt lettering to brown leather label. Speckled edges. Plain endpapers. In very good condition. Corners slightly bumped, some minor rubbing to edges and spine. Professional repair to chipped top end of spine with new piece of leather inserted. Some darkening and marks to boards. Small inscription to corner of title page “NN 23.” Inside pages and plates all exceptionally bright, clean and free of foxing. A very clean and tight copy. 751pp + 96pp + index & addenda. Illustrated with three engraved folding plates; two maps and one plate showing Caesars Bridge over the Rhine.
