These are now heavily marked and the front is detached. The inside pages, however, are original, intact and complete. Title hand written to front and to small paper label on spine. Inscription to main title page. First and last few pages slightly rubbed at edges. Occasional small marks. 263, 138pp. Theological argument about Tythes, published in the reign of James I of England. Also bound in is Philologicall Passages Examined. The book was published in answer to John Selden’s History of tithes which argued that clergy had a legal but not a divine right to tithes and that tithes were not ordained by God's law. This was seen as implying a separation of state law and divine law, challenging the Divine Right of Kings.
