Size 6.25 x 10.0 inches. In green cloth covers decorated in gold on front cover and spine. Dark yellow endpapers. In near fine condition in very good slip-case. Owner’s bookplate to first blank page. Else a very clean and tight copy. 303pp. With b/w illustrations. The private and outspokenly frank diary selections of a man who knew everyone of importance in English public life for an entire generation, including Wellington, Melbourne, Palmerston and Peel. Charles Greville, 1794 - 1865 kept the diaries until 1860. On first publication they created uproar with their scandalous gossip and lack of respect for Royalty.
