In full tree calf leather bindings, with green and light brown leather spine labels lettered in gilt (light brown label has circular white leather inset with numbering,) raised banding and extensive gilt decoration to spines, gilt decorations around board edges. Marbled endpapers and page edges. In very good conditions. Beautiful bright clean boards. Slight fading to top of front board on vol.4. Spines a little rubbed and darkened. Hinges all professionally repaired, with original leather neatly laid over contemporary leather on spines. Some slight darkening to endpapers, some minor darkening and some small spots to plates, a couple of minor handling marks to pages, some slight darkening to title pages from frontispieces, else a beautiful & clean, tight set. 376, 451, 446, 461 & 485pp. Illustrated with 11 engraved plates; 7 portraits, 2 Views, 1 plan and a facsimile of handwritings.
