Hardback, 9.5 x 6 inches. Brown paper covered boards with paper title label to spine. In very good condition. Boards are rubbed and bumped at corners, spine darkened and rubbed with rubbing and darkening to spine label. Rear hinge split with glue repair. Some minor darkening to plates. Pages rough cut, else clean and tight. A very scarce copy. 218pp. Illustrated with 2 b&w engraved plates; Map/Plan of Athens and View of Erectheum. Wilkin’s was present in Athens at the time of the removal of the Elgin Marbles from the Parthenon, by 1816 he was the leading practitioner in the Greek Revival Style. Although well held in older international libraries, this book is quite hard to find and much less well known than Wilkin’s other book “Civil Architecture of Vitruvius.”
