In navy blue full calf leather binding with red leather spine label lettered in gilt, raised banding and extensive gilt decoration to spine, gilt paneling and gilt vignette to front. Gilt inner dentelles. Marbled endpapers. All page edges gilt. In very good condition. Admiralty prize binding. Spine faded and a little rubbed. Corners slightly rubbed. Minor rubbing to rear board. Ends of spine slightly rubbed. Small glue repair to top of front hinge. Prize bookplate to front endpaper “Cadet R. Oliver, 1920, Presented by the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty.” Some light foxing topage edges, with a few odd light spots, Else a very clean and tight copy. Eyre & Spottiswoode binders label to rear. 406pp. 25 colour plates. Many b&w illustrations, photographs, diagrams, maps and plans. Errata states 3 plates omitted - but diagram of “Super-Dreadnoughts” still appears at p.345.
