Dark navy blue pebbled “leather-style” cloth binding; beveled edge boards, embossed decoration to boards; printed in black on front with gilt lettering and vignettes to front and spine. Top edges gilt. Brown endpapers. In very good condition. Corners a little bumped and rubbed, some minor rubbing to ends of spine. Some light marks to cloth. Title page darkened and foxed, pencil inscription at top. Some rubbing to edges of title page. Replaced plate at p782 rubbed around edges with some small tears. Rubbing and small tears to edges of last advert page and endpaper. Else inside pages very clean and tight. Scarce. 906 pp. 2pp ads. Large fold out map to front (backed with cloth). Many illustrations plus 14 full-page lithographic & steel-engraved full-page views, (i.e.: Crewkerne, Beaminster, Ford Abbey, Cheddington Copse, Axminster, etc.).
