The first fifty pages of the book read beautifully, with superbly reproduced woodcuts front and back and large text with wide margins, all on matt white paper. Barry Unsworth died in 2012 at the age of 81. Sacred Hunger is a critically acclaimed novel on slavery and its effect, both on the characters and the wider society in which they live. Africana.
