In very good condition with partial dustwrapper (dw; front only. Pasted-on colour plate, small marks. Creased and torn at edges. Not price clipped). Spine rubbed and chipped at bottom. Mild foxing to edges affecting some pages inside. Dated pencil presentation inscription on front endpaper. Some uncut pages at back. Else a clean and tight copy. A lavishly-illustrated study looking at the history of the relationship between countryside sports and art, detailing the life and work of sporting painters including George Stubbs, George C. Red cloth gt. 4 colour plates and 82 half-tone illustrations 80 pp. Spine and edges of covers faded, back cover slightly marked. Name and date on front endpaper. Mostly very clean inside, only minor foxing. Very good. Records of 2 great animal painters, G.Stubbs - pioneer amoung our horse painters. B.Marshall, although a follower of Stubbs, took his own line in landscape backgrounds, grouping and colour schemes. Price: 30.00 GBP
