Tall 8vo. ( 23 cm x 29 cm). Nice green cloth lettered in gilt. Profusely illustrated with 136 plates, some in colour. 240 pages, including "Index and List of Artists (1650 - 1900)", plus an appendix: 1) Seffrerin Alken. 2) "In the Goods of George Stubbs deceased" 3) Samuel Alken, Senior. Name on inside front cover. Nice clean copy. Tiny tear top of spine, a few minor scuff marks on back cover. Very clean inside. Very good. Contents: George Stubbs revisited / Sawrey Gilpin and his pupils, Gooch and Garrard / Tradition and the Eighteenth-Century Painters / Some New Light on George C. Tall 8vo. ( 23 cm x 29 cm). Nice green cloth lettered and with 2 sm.ills.in gold, and black border lines. Profusely ill.with 27 col.& 76 b/w plates. 249 pp./ cat. 2 pp. Bright binding, but back cover has a few dark marks and a few "bubbles" in cloth on top corner. Extremities a bit rubbed, and a weak vertical crease in cloth on spine. Name etc. written in ink on inside front cover. There is some foxing on the text pages throughout, quite heavy on some pages. The plates are all clean. Overall still a very good copy.
