In very good condition with very good dustwrapper (dw; spine slightly darkened with small chips at ends. Foxing spots. A few small tears at edges. Price clipped). Mild foxing to edges. Slight browning to endpapers. Else a clean and tight copy. British architecture from the Regency Period to the beginning of the Twentieth Century. The author claims that "during these hundred years the building arts descended from from the order and decency of traditional Georgian design, to a tastelessness and anarchy which reached its lowest point about the time of the Great Exhibition". He belives the reasons lies in the Victorian application of moral standards to aesthetic and practical questions. An interesting book for anyone interested in architecture.
