In very good condition with good dustwrappers (dw; vol I, tears and chips to front, small tear at back and small marks. Vol II, Small tears to spine with small piece missing to bottom. Small marks to covers). Not Price clipped. Vol I has small bumps to corners. Vol II same and small circular mark to front. Else clean and tight copies. Describes the climate of life in England from 1517. The author weaves together the various strands of history; ecclesastical, parliamentary, administrative, personal, international. Includes the influence of the new theological ideas and the Government propaganda. Vol II continbues with the iconoclasm and Protestant Experiment under Edward VI, followed by the return to Rome under Mary and it’s effect on England’s relationships in Europe. The author also objectively revisits the Martyrdom of Protestants.
