Brown cloth spine lettered in gilt. Nice brown and beige batik over boards, with design. 34 pp. Attractive private bookplate on inside front cover. Nice clean and bright binding. A few minor spots of foxing, but mostly clean inside. Very good in near very good dustwrapper ( dw: small closed tear top side of spine/ trifle darkened). Henry Major Tomlinson (1873 - 1958 ) was a British writer and journalist. He was known for anti-war and travel writing, novels and short stories, especially of life at sea.(Wikipedia)

Tall 8vo. Orange cloth gt. 30 pages, each with blue ruled borders matching covers. XXX pages. Lithograph frontis.portrait of Thomas Hardy, specially drawn for this book by ZHENYA GAY and each proof SIGNED BY THE ARTIST. In very good condition. Covers slightly marked and corners slightly bumped. One slight separation at a gathering. This is one of a limited edition which is signed by the author, even though unnumbered. Thomas Hardy had a high opinion of Mr.H.M.Tomlinson as a writer of English prose. (see letter from Hardy to Harold Laski in 1926). Laski wrote to Hardy from the London School of Economics to seek support from Hardy for H.M.Tomlinson who was being considered for a literary prize in the United States.
