8vo. In green cloth covers with blue lettering. With illustrated dustwrapper by Brian Cook. 120pp. With 103 b/w photographs. Line drawings and diagrams and maps on endps. In very good condition with very good dustwrapper (dw; spine slightly darkened, with very small chips to top. Small foxing marks to covers. In removable plastic cover). Price clipped. Spine faded with small marks to covers. Mild foxing to edges. Presentation label on first title page and owner’s signature with rubber date stamp on first blank page. Mild foxing throughout. Else a tight copy. This is a well-illustrated guide to all aspects of the English Lakeland in the 1940s, from the Lancashire Lakes to the Herdwick sheep and local superstitions.
