All edges gilt. Maroon endpapers. 168pp. Cat 8pp. With b/w engravings. In very good condition. Spine slightly faded. Small marks to covers.Light scratches to back. Else a very clean and tight copy. Thomas Chatterton lived in Bristol and was the ‘discoverer’ of some medieval poems. Later it appeared that he had written them himself, but at the time his own work was disregarded. Upon his death, at age 17, Chatterton's work was discovered and published. It ended up becoming quite popular and exerted an enormous influence upon the later Romantic poets. Wordsworth, for instance, referred to him as 'the marvelous boy' and Keats dedicated Endymion to him. Price:
