Tall 8vo. In limp card covers with engravings to front and back. 40pp. 27 b/w engravings. In near fine condition. Small mark on front. Else a very clean and tight copy. Best known as the Dorset Dialect poet, William Barnes was also a skilled engraver. He published over two hundred; nearly eighty illustrate technical manuals for his own school, the majority illustrate buildings and monuments in Somerset and Dorset. Twenty seven are relevant to Dorset and are reproduced here. Published to clebrate the centenary of Barnes’s death in 1886.
