Bound in original green cloth with gilt to spine. With illustrated dustwrapper. 112pp, With colour and b/w plates. In very good condition with good dustwrapper (dw; slightly creased on top edge and minor rubbed at edges). Not price clipped. Author’s signature on half title page. Else a clean and tight copy. Born in 1910, he rode his first winner in 1930 and in the next few years was the Leading Amateur Rider on two occasions. Whilst still an amateur, he was second in the 1936 Cheltenham Gold Cup and rode that year’s Grand National winner at Reynoldstown. One of the few trainers about whom the word "genius" can truthfully be used. He loved and understood horses and produced 150 winners for HM The Queen Mother in the period from 1973 to 1990. Price:
