Black & white frontispiece by Tunnicliffe, 14 chapter vignettes by Bewick, in the text. 12 photographs, and numerous text illustrations, including distribution maps. 308 pp. Binding is fine. Inside there is an inscription on the front endpaper (in a somewhat shaky hand), and also a note in ink on one page. A few pages are dog-eared. Else very good. In very good pictorial dustwrapper. (dw: top of spine tiny bit chipped / small piece of paper missing from top edge of back cover). Birds found in different woods, their relationships with each other, and how their habits have been forcibly changed through the activities of man (dw blurb).
