Approx 8 x 5 ins. In Illustrated blue cloth, hardback bevelled edge boards, Gilt lettering and design to spine and front. All edges gilt. In very good condition. Edges and corners rubbed, corners and ends of spine nicked. Inner hinges cracked with small tear to bottom of rear endpaper. Neat inscription to reverse of frontis. Some mild foxing to title pg with some minor marks to pages else pages clean throughout. Some gaps between gatherings. Illustrated with 5 plates. 454 pp; Cat.2 pp; Henty’s story DOES NOT APPEAR ANYWHERE ELSE. Contains also a story by G.MANVILLE FENN: Home for the Holidays./ EDGAR ALLEN POE : The Premature Burial / etc.;

Size 4.25 x 7.25 inches. In maroon blind embossed cloth covers with gilt front and hand written paper title label on spine. All edges gilt. 98pp. With b/w engraved frontis. In very good condition. Spine darkened with small chips and tears. Handwritten title pabel pasted on. Handling marks to boards. Corners slightly bumped. Pencil inscriptions to endpapers. Pages slightly browned. Else a clean and tight copy. The history of Ford(e) Abbey in Dorset. The house has a long history, being founded as a Cistercian monastery in the 1140s. The author writes shortly after one of the many changes of hands in the 19th century.
