Size 6.25 x 9.0 inches. In black cloth covers with gilt to spine. With pictorial dustwrapper. 235pp. With b/w photographs, illustrations and a map. In near fine condition with very good dustwrapper (dw; price clipped). A very clean and tight copy. The Basingstoke Canal was planned to join the Thames to both the English and the Bristol Channels. It never went beyond Basingstoke. This is the revised and updated edition of the story of its failure, decline and eventual restoration.

Size 5.5 x 8.75 inches. In pale blue cloth covers with gilt to spine. With illustrated dustwrapper. 267pp. With 65 b/w photographs, illustrations and maps. In very good condition with very good dustwrapper (dw;small marks. Slightly rubbed around edges. Price clipped). Mild foxing to edges. neat inscription to front endpaper, dated 1974. Slight browning to endpapers. Else a very clean and tight copy. The author describes the route of the Wey and Arun Junction Canal which allowed barges to sail from London to the English Channel through the heart of Surrey and Sussex.
