Tall 8vo. In dark green cloth covers with gilt to maroon title label on spine. With illustrated dustwrapper. 252pp. With b/w contemporary illustrations. In near fine condition with very good dustwrapper (dw; spine slightly bumped at ends. Not price clipped). A very clean and tight copy. Extracts from the journals of three travellers in the Highlands of Scotland in the eighteenth Century. The area at the time was remote and bleak, the people seen as hostile, almost savage, and English was rarely spoken.

In grey cloth covers with gilt to red title label on spine. With dustwrapper. Illustrated endpapers. 338pp. Prof. ills. with b/w photographic plates and b/w pictures. In very good condition with good dustwrapper (dw; spine slightly darkened with tears and chips to ends. Old repaired tears to front and back at edges. Small chips to for edges.Corners slightly rubbed and chipped). Not price clipped. Owner’s inscription on front endpaper. Else a clean and tight copy. Features the Georgian "New Town" part of Edinburgh, built in the brief space of 75 years, from 1766 to 1840. The author has studied in detail how it was planned, financed, and brought into being and compares it to aspects of the Old Town.
