In very good condition with good dustwrapper (dw; some rubbing marks and minor darkening, Not price clipped). Cloth clean with some light rubbing to corners. Pages slightly tanned throughout. Else a very clean and tight copy. A.L.S. (Editor’s letter) loose in front. 221pp; 7 photo. plts; Facs. letters; Letters to Florence Henniker from Thomas Hardy which show the origins and nature of their long friendship. The first publication of these letters, Hardy's own matrimonial scene was in a mess and he was also in love with Florence Henniker who became a life-long friend.
