Size 6.25 x 8.25 inches. In blue grey hard card covers with paper title label to cream cloth spine. Top edge gilt. In very good condition. Spine slightly darkened. Small marks to boards. Corners slightly bumped and rubbed. Else a clean and tight copy. 275pp. English translation of a first-century BC didactic poem by the Roman poet and philosopher Lucretius, with the goal of explaining Epicurean philosophy to a Roman audience, and an attempt to show that everything in nature can be explained by natural laws without the need for the intervention of divine beings.
