In very good condition with good dustwrapper (dw; Spine slightly darkened, rubbed at ends with small chips and tears. Handling and other small marks. Slightly rubbed around edges with small chips and tears. Not price clipped). Spine slightly bumped at ends. Mild foxing to edges. Slight browning to endpapers. Neat inscription to front endpaper, dated 1934. Else a clean and tight copy. The author surveys the whole field of geographical discovery from classical times to the early 20th century. With numerous maps showning the routes of some of the more important explorers and some of the important early, but often theoretical, maps.
