With silk bookmark. One or two minor spots to edges, darkening opposite map. Otherwise pages very clean and tight throughout. In very good condition. corners bumped and nicked, edges/corners rubbed. Owners bookplate to front endpaper and inscription over verso. 451pp. 20 engraved plates and fold out map of Spain at front. In very good condition. Handling and other marks to boards. Corners and fore edges slightly rubbed. Slight browning to endpapers. Else a clean and tight copy. Published in 1919, this is the official record ot the work of the Allied Expeditionary Force in Egypt in WWI. It begins with Allenby’s Despatches then the Order of Battle, with brief record of service of the major formations. This is followed by Brief Records of the various Branches of the Army and finally plate maps with text pages showing the progress of the campaign. This is the campaign during which T.E.Lawrence was active with the Arab Army of Sheikh Faisal.
