Hardbacks, 8.5 x 5.5 ins, in decorative full Tree-Calf leather bindings, with red morocco leather spine label’s lettered in gilt, gilt numbering and banding to spines, gilt decorative edging to boards and outer edges. Plain endpapers. In good conditions. corners bumped and rubbed, edges of boards rubbed, spines heavily rubbed; darkened and cracked. All hinges are cracked (with professional repair/reinforcement to endpapers & hinges.) Endpapers darkened around edges, vol.1 has tear to front endpaper from where old bookplate removed, later bookplates to endpapers “D.J. Perry.” Half-title pages inscribed at top corner “G.F. Barlow.” also some rubbing to this area with rubbed-through hole (deleted inscription underneath). Dark spot to center outer edge of pages of vol.1. Some darkening to pages opposite plates. Some minor spots to a couple of pages, some spots to title of vol.2.
