Corners slightly bumped on cloth, endpapers slightly darkened, original bookseller label to front endpaper “Parker & Son”. A couple of spots to outside page edges else a very clean and tight copy. One of a set of books describing the Counties of the British Isles as they existed before 1973. This volume covers Essex. The author has sought to present a picture of rural, extra-metropolitan, Essex. He writes of soil and scenery, crafts and industries, agriculture and architecture, country towns and the people past and present. Includes, Colchester, Coggeshall, Audley End, Thaxted, Clacton. 226pp. With b&w photographic plates. With fold out map at back.
