1861/ 1870 (3rd.ed.). 
4 vols; Folio. Maroon hf calf binding gt. Spines a little bit rubbed. Nice clean copy inside with just 2 plates and one text page slightly marked, and hardly any foxing. One plate margins a bit chipped / sl. darkened. Very good set. Approx. .124 steel-engr.plates / plans, etc., all present as called for. Although stating on the title page that a map is present, this does not seem to have been issued with the third edition (see Squibb: The Plates in Hutchins' History of Dorset). NOT bound in here are the introductory pages and notes relating to earlier editions.

4 vols; Folio. (16.5 x 10 inches.) Quarter bound in dark brown calf leather and brown cloth covered boards. Raised banding, gilt decoration and lettering to spines. Speckled page edging, marbled endpapers. In good conditions. Some rubbing and wear to covers. Corners bumped and rubbed. Rubbing and some minor splits/marks to cloth, soiling rear v.1. Spine on vol.2 is noticeably more heavily rubbed than other vols. Inside pages very clean and tight. Some minor spots else very clean and tight inside. Good reading copies. Approx. 121 steel-engr.plates / plans, etc., lacks 3 plates; v.2. p242 Symondsbury Church, p.694. Rampisham Cross, and v.3. p115. Uddens House. (copies of these plates can be supplied upon request.) Map mentioned in title was not bound in by the publisher in this edition. Although stating on the title page that a map is present, this does not seem to have been issued with the third edition (see Squibb: The Plates in Hutchins' History of Dorset). 4 volumes. Hardbacks, approx 16.5 x 10 inches. I full brown morocco leather bindings; raised banding, gilt lettering and extensive gilt decorations to spines, gilt decorative edging and inner dentelles to boards. All page edges gilt. Marbled endpapers. In very good condition. Some minor rubbing to extremities; Corners slightly bumped, edges and corners rubbed. Some rubbing to spines. Some minor marks and darkening to boards. Bookplates to front endpapers “R. Leslie Waterman.” Some minor spots and areas of light foxing. Plates are very clean and bright examples, most are very clean with no signs of foxing or darkening, but some still are slightly darkened or foxed along edges. Else a very clean and tight set. Complete with 125 steel-engraved plates, maps, folding plans, etc., all present as called for. Third edition, generally regarded as the best. This set is larger by some 3 inches all round, but was not published with the county map, which is sometimes added later (not included in this set.) Several plates have been bound into different volumes.
