The frontis. is tinted. There are 2 variant cloth bindings, but the green binding is the better one. The stories & ills. in this book appeared first in "Little Folks" between 1896 - 1902.

Covers are darkened around edges and spines, corners bumped/chipped with nicks to ends of spine. Pt1 of Indian and Colonial lacks half of front endpaper. Vol.1 has minor tear to bottom of endpaper. Inside the plates are clean and bright, with original tissue guards. Text pages very clean, with the odd foxing spot and handling marks to pages. Some foxing to edges of plates. Hinges cracked. But bindings remain tight. Overall a very good set. 44 lovely coloured lithographic plates of the various regiments.
