Size 6 x 9 inches. In Blue cloth with embossed edging and gilt to spine. In very good condition. Cloth is faded with some rubbing to edges. corners bumped. Endpapers slightly darkened with neat inscription and stamp to front endpaper. Some pencil notations to margins. 238 pp; Sketch map frontis and fold out map to preface. Contains a bibliography, List of real names of places, synopses of plots of the Novels, and the Dictionary of characters and places.

Some fading to spine and top edge of cover. Leading corners a little bumped. Front hinge cracked at index page, else a very tight and clean copy. 832pp. With many b&w illustrations within text. Thomas Hardy’s ‘A Wessex Ballad’ on p594; “The Fire at Tranter Sweatley’s.”
