In near fine condition with very good dustwrapper (dw; slightly creased along top edge. Not price clipped). Desmond Hawkinsí signature to main title page. Else a very clean and tight copy. Facsimile limited edition, with an introduction, of William Chafinís 1818 book on Cranborne Chase. The Chase was a lawless place in the 18thC and Chafin, of Chettle House, a parson and Magistrate, interpreted the law to his own convenience. The book tells many stories of the clashes between poachers and keepers.
