Tall 8vo. In blue cloth covers with gilt to spine. With dustwrapper. 365pp. With 48 plates, 22 maps & diagrams (incl.fold.map at the back). In very good condition with good dustwrapper, (dw; spine slightly darkened with old repairs with sticky tape. Small tears and chips to edges. Foxing to front. Owner’s bookplate and signature to front endpapers. Mild foxing to edges affecting occasional pages throughout. Else a clean and tight copy. Narrative of an expedition of ten members under Glen to Northeast Land, a region of Spitsbergen, July 1935-1936. The aim of the expedition was to investigate the weather conditions on inland ice, and problems connected with the age, thickness and physical condition of the icecap. Tells of the difficulties of surviving as the camp slowly sinks under the ice. With the rarely seen dust jacket.

Top edges gilt. 556, 508pp. Profusely illustrated with 260 full-page and smaller illustrations by Dr.Wilson and other members of the Expedition, photogravure frontispieces, 12 col.plts.in facsimile from Dr.Wilson's sketches; Panoramas & maps. In good condition. Spines faded with patch missing from Vol I. Small marks to boards. Gilt vignettes slightly rubbed. Mild foxing to edges. Slight browning to endpapers. Clean and tight inside. The Voyage of The Discovery in 1901 to the Antarctic. Scott describes the history of Polar exploration, the putting together of the expedition, building the ship, the voyage there, and gives a detailed account of the exploration. Included are detailed descriptions of such problems as providing adequate ventilation without losing heat in the accommodation. A fascinating account of a voyage to uncharted land and sea.

This is the author’s journal of his journey with two companions to the Perry River in Arctic Canada in 1949. The area was known to the breeding sites of many wildfowl, especially the rare Ross’s Geese.
